Guatape, a small world full of colors

Colors! Colors! Many colors!!! Different colors from house to house, small, narrow streets, beautiful pastel-colored paintings found on the lower half of nearly every building, laid-back, peaceful, smiling people, incredible coffee smell…welcome to Guatape, an amazing small town surrounded by Antioquia’s green hills and fresh water lakes. We felt in love at first sight!

Just at the near outskirts of the town, we climbed 650 steps to reach the top of Piedra del Penol, an enormous monolithic formation which offered exceptional views of the small scattered islands within the lake. I guess the pictures will just speak for themselves!

Of course we couldn’t leave the area without a trip on the lake, so we boarded on a boat full of Colombians and of loud music! Ha ha! Everybody danced during the whole trip! I am not the biggest fan of latino music, but I just could not sit! Ha ha!
